After looking for a job for one year, I ended up in the place I started: Antarctica.
This time, a new adventure is unfolding which will bring me through a winter season:
no flights, no fresh food, no mail, no sunlight.
Travel, friends, and family await.

packing roads under clouds

The first flight is coming shortly. One of the projects important for bringing passengers to that aircraft and bringing our long-awaited cargo back to town is packing down the snow road. We will use the "Pegasus Short-Cut Road" for the five flights arriving in August and with recent wind blowing drifts into the roadway, a small number of us have driven 42,000 pound Deltas over the roadway to pack the snow down.

One of nature's phenomena right now are the nacreous clouds. These gaseous entities float high above us, chemically catching the sun's light and creating crazy wispy colors on the horizon. This photo captures a few wispy strands across the lightening sky as we drove back into town from our road packing adventure.
