Croatian Christmas was beautiful in Dubrovnik. The rain stopped late in the evening and the lights glowed
Our plates were all loaded with big portions of good food, we took a walk after the meal, we had plenty of laughs about traveling, and we played cards, too.
On Christmas Eve the shops were selling dried fish which is a tradition for Catholics to partake in that day. People filled the streets and flooded out the doors of the overstuffed cathedrals for Midnight Mass. Cafes and bars were open late into the night and kids lit off fireworks in the alleyways.
On Christmas Day, Dubrovnik had groups of singers around town, a band marched down the Placa, shops were closed, and most people ended the day celebrating with their families. The streets were pretty quiet after dinner.
