We do not expect to see much other life around our little spot on Ross Island, but we have had a few skua (Antarctic scavenger bird), a pair of penguins and a good number of seals hanging around as the ice thickens. On my way to Scott Base this week I spotted a couple of the ice slugs lounging about by the pressure ridges, but it won't be long before they leave us, too. This big guy appeared to be stretching by Hut Point.
